QUICK UPDATES

Hello MTA Family. Here are a few quick updates:

Now:
-You can still sign up to march and/or help coordinate the alumni band for Homecoming 2013. Inbox me if you are interested. 

-I'm working to get music packets for everyone who wants to march. 

-I'm waiting to get the date of Band Camp. As mentioned earlier, I would like the alumni band's practices to coincide with Band Camp, then we will make a schedule leading up to homecoming.

Next up:
-I'll be speaking with Mr. Redding about how we can help him and the band this year.

-MTA band dues will be put in place this year. I will update you once we determine how much dues will be.

-The 2013 varsity football schedule should be out soon. I will post the homecoming date as soon as I get it.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP COORDINATE ALUMNI BAND FOR HOMECOMING 2013
If you would like to help coordinate the Alumni Band for Homecoming 2013, please read the following information, recently posted on our Facebook page: Good morning MTA family. I am looking for alumni to help coordinate the alumni band for homecoming this year. For now I'm looking for people who will help get alumni together who are interested in marching/playing for homecoming. I'd like for it to be a committee of people who can oversee the whole process (i.e. schedule practices, give out music, etc...). If you are interested, inbox me. Thank you to those who have volunteered already. I just need a few more people.

MARCH/PLAY FOR HOMECOMING 2013
If you are interested in marching/playing for Homecoming 2013, please read the following information:

-Contact Audrey at jhsbandalum@yahoo.com and you will be added to the list of alumni who will be marching/playing.

-You will be playing music that you are familiar with (i.e. Lets' Go Tigers, Backstabbers, Bob Marley, etc..). We are working to get music packets made for everyone.

-Everyone participating is responsible for their own instrument, batons, flag poles, and maces.

-You will be updated on future plans (i.e. practice schedule, etc...) as we move forward.

-Please pass this information on to any alumni you think would be interested in marching/playing this year.

MOVING FORWARD: NEW INFORMATION ABOUT MTA

Hello MTA family. In efforts to move us to the next level as an organization, part of the vision is for us to become a formal structure to include president, vice-president, treasurer, historian, parliamentarian, etc...We will also have committees such as the alumni band committee, band camp committee, fundraiser committee, and a few more that will be headed by a president and a vice-president as well (*Anyone holding a position in MTA must be a paid, financial member. Dues are being determined). Executive positions will be formally voted on at a meeting to be determined in the near future. Interested MTA, however, can volunteer now to be on a certain committee as well as volunteer to be president or vice-president of a specific committee (Committees and a description of each soon will be posted). After the committee descriptions have been posted, inbox Audrey D. Dawson on Facebook or write to jhsbandalum@yahoo.com, which committee you would like to be a part of. For anyone who would like to head a committee, when you inbox or email, indicate that you would like to be president. Whichever submission is received first will be considered for president, second will be considered for vice-president and further details will be provided. We are on our way to becoming a bigger, better, and greater organization. Look out for committee descriptions and more info soon.

HOMECOMING 2012

Well Homecoming 2012 has come and gone. The MTA family came together again to celebrate homecoming, honor "ole Jones High", and have a great time. Below are photos from game day. The Tigers beat the West Orange Warriors 34-27. It's GREAT being a Tiger!

MARCHING TIGER MEET & GREET

On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, Marching Tiger Alumni will be hosting its annual homecoming Meet & Greet for the Marching Tiger Band at 7pm, in the band room. The Meet & Greet is a “food and fun” event held for the students to help celebrate homecoming and to give us, alumni, a chance to give back to the band and to meet the students.

Feeding the students is a big part of this occasion and your contributions, in the past, have helped to make this event a success. This year I am asking for your contributions again. You can contribute any food or drink item of your choice (i.e. finger foods, sandwiches, chicken, veggie trays, fruit trays, juices, desserts, etc…). Items should be dropped off on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 between 4:30pm and 6pm in the band room.

We are preparing to feed approximately 100 band students. Please contact me via Facebook or jhsbandalum@yahoo.com, to let me know what item you will be bringing. Thank you in advance for your contribution.

MTA DARIUS BARKER: FROM MARCHING TIGER TO MARCHING WILDCAT

Shout out to one of our own, MTA Darius Barker, who is coming up as a Marching Wildcat. This is a shot of him at the MEAC-SWAC Challenge held here recently in Orlando. We're very proud of Darius. He is P Phi P alum and DM alum.
